Falmouth Residents Testify At Turbine Hearing
Falmouth Enterprise March 18, 2011
Four Falmouth residents living near the Falmouth Wastewater Treatment Facility testified this week before the Connecticut Siting Council in a hearing over two proposed wind turbines in Prospect, Connecticut. Falmouth residents Neil Andersen, Annie H. Cool, Mark J. Cool, and John J. Ford traveled to New Britain, Connecticut, Tuesday morning to speak about on the “life-altering experience” of living close to a 400-foot wind turbine.
BNE Energy Inc. of West Hartford is proposing to site two industrial wind turbines in a residential area of Prospect. The 492-foot turbines, if approved, would be the tallest wind turbines in the Northeast and would be the first to be sited in a densely populated residential area in America, according to the opponents of the project.
Also testifying was Michael Bartarian, a sound engineer with Noise Control Engineering, which performed a study on behalf of the Blacksmith Shop Road residents last summer. Mr. Bartarian repeatedly referenced noise from the Falmouth wastewater facility wind turbine in his testimony.
Residents from Prospect traveled to Falmouth last November to see Falmouth’s wind turbines and speak with local residents about their experiences.
